I bought this because I got an Adventurer model SteriPen for Xmas and wanted to get the pre filter to get out dirt/ bits. Yes I could use a tshirt but why? If something light and easy to use and pack along is available, I'd rather use it.Seriously, it could not be much easier. You just stick the funnel in the mouth of the bottle, pour the water thru, then sterilize it with the pen.I am so thrilled to not have to go through all the pressurized filtering any more, but I don't want to drink grit either- even if it's purified grit.The filter is technically 3 pieces: the wide end-which snaps onto the narrow end, and lastly, the little filter part that fits in the center. It all nests together and can be stowed about anywhere- it is not bulky.If you have a SteriPen I would recommend this.
