As we have very hard water, we filter water used in the kettle/ saucepans. We always get non Brita cartridges as not even Brita lasts more than 2.5-3 weeks. After reading the reviews, carefully flushing the active charcoal through until clear and carefully preparing the cartridge (despite no instructions with this product); we have been very disapointed/ annoyed to find that the base plate on the kettle has filmed over with limescale within 3 days of starting the cycle. Having cleaned it with citric acid, it has filmed over again, within a further 3 days. I have given 2 stars, because 1 = 'hate' and hate is a very strong word...
