Stainless Steel Aquarium Water Filter Pipe & Air Tube Hose Cleaning Brush - Perfect for Fish Tank, Pond, and Hydroponics System Maintenance

First, I should note that I bought this cleaning brush for a purpose other than cleaning aquarium pipes. I wanted a brush with a long, flexible handle and stiff bristles that could clean the little mold spots that sometimes pop up in my humidifier. This brush unfortunately didn't work for that purpose. The bristles on it are so soft that they don't really clean anything - they just glided over the spots I was hoping to scrub off. The cord/handle was also more like a spring than what I was looking for - I had wanted a handle that could bend into and hold a shape and have it hold while I used the brush. The cord is very flexible when you apply direct pressure, but reverts back to its original shape the second you stop applying pressure. I can see where this would work to clean a narrow, U-shaped pipe where the pipe walls dictate the only path the cord can take, but even at that point, the brush bristles are so soft that I doubt they'd be able to clean much off the walls of the pipe. I bought this brush based on its good reviews, so I suspect it works for something other than what I wanted it to do. Just be warned that the cord doesn't hold a shape without direct pressure, and the bristles (at least the white ones) are soft, not stiff.Get the same size of the tube because if its a little bit bigger it will jam on the way out making it hard to pull at first as bristles fold over and that's if it doesn't pull apart after few goes like that otherwise they don't come off. I used a hair trimmer to trim down to the right size so not to return it but not optimal results. I got this to clean the sunroof drains. I suggest taking off the brush head and use the slinky wire to tap pass through the wall joint. Pour warm water w some detergent/cleaner to flush then plain water. the back two drains you cant see just pour some warm water in channel to check for outflow 1st then warm solution. Or pull rear sides of headliner and get up close to it and use wire. great time for some silicone all around that tube joint.Funny story, I am military and I use to use my old weapons cleaning kit. I used my barrel rods attached to my swab ring and I would use pipe cleaners to fasten one of my smaller hand held tube brushes to it and run it through my water hoses in my aquarium to clean them. I must have looked like a fool with a 4 foot cleaning rod trying to push a brush through the flexible tube. I figured there must be a better solution, so I looked and found this. LOVE IT! and it's made of a flexible spring type rod that also makes it easy to store away. Very easy to clean and ironically cleans the tubes quite nicely. Don't be hard headed like I was, this makes things sooooooo much easier.Excellent price. If it were of higher quality it would get 5 stars. Nobody's perfect.I use it to clean the vinyl tubing to my canister filter and it DOES get the job done. The flexible spring steel is a little thin and the bristles are a little soft for my liking, but as I use it on as monthly basis, it fits the bill.If I was going to clean something that I couldn't rub of with my fingers (if I could reach) I would not use this brush.If I was going to need it on a daily basis, I would DEFINITELY opt for a higher quality product.This arrived in a 5 1/2" X 3 3/4" package, that includes the zip lock top! The brushes are very small. Certainly not going to clean the tubing of a canister filter...So, this is the review I wrote before I actually tried it, boy was I wrong!! I am leaving part of the negative comment up because I want to admit when I am wrong. My apologies.I LOVE IT! I am changing my vote to 5 stars. It cleans the PVC so well that just a rinse with the hose and the filter pipes are done! Yes, it's a bit tricky to get it to go around tight corners. If you have made DIY tubes for your filter, a little patients and this little beauty are all you need.I thought I'd never get the tubes in my filter cleaned until I came across this item. The brushes are a perfect fit and got the tubes cleaned completely. The one thing that I don't like about it is the springy metal bit. It's very long and awkward. It'd have been better and easier to use if it was a solid handle on each one, or even one handle with each brush on the opposite ends.I broke one of these (the brush head separated from the coil) but it was my fault, I got it jammed in the c-bend of a really small outflow pipe and ended up yanking on it to get it out. I had to apply a pretty decent amount of force before it broke and I was using it for a pipe that was really too small for it to follow the curve. I bought another one right away and it's serving me just fine.This brush worked better than expected, for its low price it did its function with great results. I bought the brush to clean the waste buildup on the hoses of my Marineland C-530 canister filter. After using them the flexibility and length of the brush left the hoses clean and clear, as if the day I took them out of the box. Would definitely recommend for those who want a good product at a good price.You get what you pay for, and this is a good bargain, for the just under $6 it cost me, I am pleased that I have a long flexible hose/pipe cleaner for my external aquarium filter's tubing. One end is 1/2" diameter bristles and the other 1" diameter. the bristles are quite soft, so it took longer to clean the algae in the tube, but it did what it was supposed to. Thank you for the tool.Worked great for cleaning out my filter tubes and piping. I guess I was a little rough with it and the small head broke off. Will be ordering another one as price was very reasonable. Would highly recommend.Broke after one use.
